Cancer Australia's “Innovations Showcase” at Peter Mac
03 July 2025
Peter Mac today joins with Cancer Australia, and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Alliance, to co-host the Australian Comprehensive Cancer Network (ACCN) Innovations Showcase.
This event spotlights networked cancer care and explores how the ACCN supports provision of comprehensive cancer care as close to home, as safely as possible, for patients Australia-wide.
Now in its second year, this event has three key themes:
- Improving equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Showcasing established initiatives and best practices in networking and collaboration
- And exploring how the ACCN can be leveraged to enhance implementation and innovation in cancer care delivery.
“Peter Mac is proud to partner with Cancer Australia in hosting the ACCN Innovations Showcase,” says Professor Jason Payne, Chief Executive of Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
“Every day, we see the impact of new discoveries and research that are improving treatment and care, extending lives and improving people’s quality of life.
“The ACCN is providing another valuable way to share expertise, accelerate innovation, and improve outcomes for all Australians affected by cancer.”
Also at today’s event, a new partnership agreement will be signed as Peter Mac and Cancer Australia work together towards “achieving the goals of the Australian Cancer Plan”.
The ACCN has over 850 members and connects cancer services, clinicians, and researchers nationwide.
This network is a major action of this Australian Cancer Plan, launched in 2023, to improve cancer care, particularly for those with the poorest health outcomes.
“The ACCN represents a new era of collaboration in Australian cancer care,” says Professor Dorothy Keefe, Chief Executive of Cancer Australia.
“By connecting services and professionals nationwide, we can ensure equitable access to world-class cancer care for every Australian, regardless of where they live.”
Professor Grant McArthur AO, Chief Executive of the VCCC Alliance, will MC today’s event and says it is a “unique opportunity to observe how national collaboration is driving real change in cancer care”.
