Getting to Peter Mac Melbourne
Tram
Three tram lines travel near Peter Mac.
These are tram line 19 (stop number 10) and the 58 and 59 tram lines (stop 14).
Train
Check Journey Planner to plan your train ride to Peter Mac.
The closest train station is Parkville, and there are entrances (escalator and lift) to this station right by Peter Mac’s front door.
People with mobility needs can be assisted by the Traveller’s Aid service as they move through the station.
Parkville station is on the Sunbury and Cranbourne / Pakenham lines and is part of the Metro Tunnel.
Please also note:
- If travelling through Melbourne’s CBD in the City Loop, you need to transfer to a Metro Tunnel service to get to Peter Mac.
- Get off at Flinders Street or Melbourne Central (City Loop) stations and follow the signs to Town Hall or State Library (Metro Tunnel) stations, to catch a train to Peter Mac.

Other nearby stations
North Melbourne, Flagstaff, and Melbourne Central stations (on the City Loop) are also fairly close and connect to trams that go to Peter Mac.
Bus

The 401 shuttle bus provides a regular service to and from North Melbourne Station, stopping across the road from Peter Mac, before travelling onto The University of Melbourne.

The 402 bus travels between Footscray and East Melbourne via North Melbourne, with stops at the front entrance of Peter Mac.

Drop off zones
There is a five minute drop off zone on Grattan Street outside Peter Mac.
Peter Mac Melbourne carpark drop-off
Access to the Peter Mac carpark (off Flemington Road) is free the first 30 minutes on levels B3 and B4 for pickup and drop off.
Taxis and rideshares
There is a taxi rank across the road at the front entrance of The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

On-site parking
We have 307 parking spaces on Basement levels B3 and B4.
Note: The car park reaches full occupancy daily during business hours. Patients are encouraged to plan ahead, as parking availability can be limited.
Drop‑off zones are available on Levels B3 and B4 when no other parking spots are available.
The car park is open from 6am to 8pm daily.
The height limit for vehicles is 2.2 metres.
Discounted car parking
Patients and carers are eligible for discounted parking if:

You hold a relevant concession card (Pensioner Concession, Health Care, Repatriation Health, Department of Veterans’ Affairs Health, Commonwealth Seniors Health), and have an appointment at Peter Mac on the day of parking.

You are attending Peter Mac for more than three days within a seven day period.

Street parking around Melbourne campus
There is some time-limited street parking available around Peter Mac.
Fees apply from Monday to Saturday afternoon. Please check local signs before you park your car.
Wheelchair access
Wheelchairs are available for patients and their carers. You can collect a wheelchair from the carpark lift lobbies. Please return the wheelchair to the carpark lift lobby when you are finished with it.
