67 Peter Mac researchers among world’s most cited scientist

10 November 2025

Sixty-seven Peter Mac researchers have been recognised among the top two per cent of most-cited scientists worldwide, according to the newly released Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List for 2025.

This prestigious annual list celebrates the world’s leading researchers who have made a significant impact in their fields through their citation influence.

The study, based on data from Elsevier’s Scopus database and updated to the end of 2023, identifies the top 100,000 researchers across all disciplines according to a composite citation score. The ranking emphasises the influence and impact of research through citations, while also considering co-authorship and author order.

Peter Mac’s Executive Director Cancer Research, Professor Ricky Johnstone, said the recognition again reflects the global reach and excellence of Peter Mac’s research.

“It’s an incredible achievement to have so many of our researchers included among the world’s most influential scientists,” Professor Johnstone said.

“This recognition speaks to the calibre, collaboration and commitment of our teams, and to Peter Mac’s strong reputation for research that makes a real difference for people living with cancer.”

The Stanford/Elsevier analysis, led by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis and colleagues at Stanford University, is regarded as one of the most comprehensive global evaluations of scientific impact.
