Full Metro Tunnel services to start
30 January 2026
The Metro Tunnel is coming fully online and for many of our patients and families this means a quicker, or less hassle, way to get to Peter Mac.
From this Sunday (1 Feb) the Metro Tunnel’s full-service timetable will come into effect.
Check out the new timetable in detail here or use Journey Planner to plan your train ride to the new Parkville station, which is right outside of Peter Mac.
Under the full-service timetable, trains will operate to Parkville Station every day from before dawn to after midnight and at “turn up and go” frequency.
It’s a big step up from the initial “Summer Start” which had trains stopping at Parkville station only every 20 minutes and though the middle of the day.
People with mobility needs can get assistance from the Traveller’s Aid service as they move through Parkville station.
If you’re unfamiliar with Parkville station, watch these videos showing the escalator and lift entrances just outside of Peter Mac.
Please also note:
- If you’re travelling on a train through the City Loop, you will need to transfer to a Metro Tunnel service to get to Parkville station and Peter Mac.
- Get off at Flinders Street or Melbourne Central (City Loop) stations and follow the signs to Town Hall or State Library (Metro Tunnel) stations, to catch a train to Peter Mac.
