Peter Mac powered by the sun

Close to 100 solar panels have been installed on the rooftop of our Parkville campus as Peter Mac doubles down on sustainability.
The panels will generate over 74,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enough to power all of Peter Mac’s operations in Parkville for one full working day each year saving the organisation around $15,000 per annum.
“Like millions of households and businesses across Australia, Peter Mac is now able to generate electricity sustainably from our own rooftop,” says Peter Mac’s CEO Professor Jason Payne.
“These panels will make a small yet significant contribution to our electricity supply and are a symbol of Peter Mac’s commitment to reducing our environmental footprint.”
The 98 panels were installed thanks to a $100,000 grant from Victorian Healthcare Building Authority, plus a $40,000 contribution from Peter Mac and support also from Honeywell.
The solar panel installation comes after Peter Mac switched over to 100% renewable electricity in July last year, as part of a Victorian Government initiative.
It is estimated over 4 million Australian households and small businesses have installed rooftop solar, representing one of the highest penetration rates in the world.
