Professor Simon J. Harrison
Biography
Professor Simon Harrison is Director of the Centre of Excellence in Cellular Immunotherapy at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a leading Myeloma clinician and Clinical Lead of the CAR-T and Ambulatory Cellular Therapies Unit (Clinical Haematology, Peter Mac and The Royal Melbourne Hospital) and Honarary Clinical Professor at the Sir Peter MacCallum Department of Oncology at The University of Melbourne.
His clinical research is focused on the field of multiple myeloma, examining novel therapies including novel drug combinations, early phase clinical trial design and the incorporation of novel biomarkers into clinical protocols and cellular immune therapies such as CAR-T. Professor Harrison is also Chair of the Myeloma Australia Medical and Scientific Advisory Group.
In laboratory research, Professor Harrison’s work focuses on the development of novel cellular immune therapies in cancer and in vivo cell tracking. He is also a lead in the development of small molecule development such as POL1 inhibitors and venetoclax in combination with other novel drugs.
