What are you researching in lay terms?

New treatments for blood cancers.

What motivated you to come and work at Peter Mac?

The potential to make scientific discoveries that can be translated into better therapies for cancer patients.

What drives you to achieve better outcomes for cancer patients?

We focus on cancers where there is an urgent unmet need for new treatment strategies. Ultimately, our goal is to make biological discoveries that can be translated into clinical practice.

How will your research improve outcomes for cancer patients?

We are seeking to expand the anti-cancer armament. As a field, we are making tremendous strides in our understanding of cancer-causing (oncogenic) processes. The challenge now is to leverage that increased understanding into new medicines that can benefit patients for whom current options are unsatisfactor.

What do you like most about working for Peter Mac?

There is an excellent collegiate environment that provides support and enables co-operation between research and clinical groups with different expertise. There is also the opportunity to learn from a very diverse group of colleagues.

Can you please detail how your research has used and benefitted from the core facilities at Peter Mac?

Scientific research is powered by technology. Having access to state-of-the-art facilities and support in-house enables us to answer biological questions in a much more powerful, precise and rapid way.
