Associate Professor Blyth is the Head of the Models of Cancer Translational Research Centre. He completed his PhD at Flinders University in Adelaide in 2009, investigating mechanisms of radiation-induced carcinogenesis. In 2012, Associate Professor Blyth joined the National Institute of Radiological Sciences in Japan working across a diverse range of cellular and mouse models of radiation carcinogenesis, including heavy ion radiotherapy and space radiation.

He joined Peter Mac in 2016, working on research projects within the Division of Radiation Oncology and then also the Translational Research Laboratory (TRL). Through the TRL and now the Models of Cancer Translational Research Centre, Associate Professor Blyth leads a team focusing on commercial and academic projects for pre-clinical anti-cancer therapy testing, the development of novel PET (Positron Emission Tomography) tracers and radionuclide therapies, as well as establishing new models of cancer in collaboration with various clinical trials.
